Oil and Gas Calculations for Beginners – Part 1 Room 108 March 24th

This class will look at the history of division orders, from the Blanchard decision through Senate Bill 168 when all of the royalty in Oklahoma was unitized in 1993. We will discuss the different producing states and the calculations for each.

Teach you how to read calculations through examining a title opinion, understanding overrides and the gross and net revenue of working interest owners.

Teach you to calculate PPI’s (Proportionate Production Interest) in Oklahoma. 

This class will be taught in an introductory level, very basic, and will include a workbook that you can use as a reference tool. 

Oil and Gas Calculations for Beginners – Part 2 Room 104 March 25th

You will need to have taken our beginners class - or – understand how to calculate net working interests and the burden relationship. This class will cover more leasehold net problems.  How to set up non-op wells for your company’s 8/8ths (taking in kind). Farmouts and the reservation scenarios.  Back in after payout, non-consent working interest owners and the formula used to distribute their interest to the other partners. Review the different styles of title opinions and examine the formulas used by the attorneys. Cover inflated decimals and why they are inflated. Discuss different gas markets and the volumes used for gas balancing.

This class will be taught in an introductory level, and will include a workbook that you can use as a reference tool.  We will continue to have you complete work projects in class as we have found this style helps with the comprehension of the calculations.

Spreadsheet calculations ˝ day – CDOA credits pending

New!  Many students have asked to explain the formulas used to set up the spreadsheet and have requested a class. This class will be held in OSU’s computer lab.  It is important that you have prior knowledge of excel and the formula process. We will be covering the working interest owner, the lease royalty burdens and overrides, and their deduction from the working interest gross.  It is important that you have taken the Oil and Gas Calculations classes, or, have a knowledge of leasehold nets of the working interest.
